From Chat Screens to Starbucks Scenes: A Love Story with Vintage Soul
☕ The Starbucks Love Story: Romance, Realness & a Grande Java Chip
In a world where dating feels more like window shopping than real connection, Anushka and Ayush weren’t looking for sparks—they were craving peace.
They weren’t in it for forever. Not yet. Just for someone who felt like a warm cup of coffee on a restless day.
🧡 From Swipes to Something Special
Both had been through the messy trenches of modern dating. Betrayed once, confused often, they turned to a dating app—not for hookups, but for companionship, comfort, and conversations that meant something.
After a month of getting to know each other through deep chats and spontaneous calls, they planned to meet. Movies felt too intimate for the first time, and with the summer heat peaking, a cozy coffee shop sounded perfect.
🤝 First Meetings and Awkward Greetings
When they met, Anushka nervously went in for a handshake while Ayush leaned in for a side hug. They ended up laughing at their mismatch as they looked for an auto.
Their conversation flowed from the very first moment they sat down inside Starbucks.
Ayush smiled shyly and admitted, “I’ve never actually been here before… I have no idea what to order.”
Anushka chuckled, “Okay, mission ‘Make You Try the Best Coffee’ begins. You sit, I’ve got this.”
She ordered a Java Chip Caramel Grande for him and her usual Cappuccino, cheekily giving the name “Mr. Moody Bean” at the counter. She returned to their table with a sparkle in her eyes, watching him wait like an excited child.
When the barista called out the nickname, Ayush looked up in confusion.
“That’s you,” Anushka grinned.
He laughed, blushed, and brought the drinks over—still trying to process the cuteness of it all.
🗣️ Dating in a Besharam Rang World
Over coffee, they spoke about everything—failed dates, mismatched vibes, their weirdest app encounters, and how exhausting love had started to feel.
They laughed like two old-school souls stuck in a world moving too fast.
“We’re 90s hearts trying to survive in a ‘besharam rang’ generation,” Anushka said.
“But this… feels different,” Ayush replied.
And it was.
🌸 One Year Later: A Return to Where It Began
A year passed—full of spontaneous calls, inside jokes, mini fights, soft apologies, and dozens of shared coffees.
Ayush decided to mark their first anniversary in the most them way possible.
He messaged her:
“Wear the same dress from our first date. Meet me at Starbucks.”
When Anushka walked in, he was already there. This time, he’d placed a single order.
On the cup: “Ayunushka.”
Their names blended into one.
He had told the barista to skip calling out the name. Ten minutes later, he picked up the drink, placed it in front of her—along with a rose and a handwritten letter.
💌 The Letter
Dear Sugarbean,
Exactly a year ago, we were here—two strangers tired of dating culture but still giving love one last try. You went for a handshake, I awkwardly leaned in for a hug. And in those few minutes, something clicked.
I found a peace I didn’t know I needed. The chaotic me found a pause button in you. I remember saying Let’s not talk about forever, just now.
And now? Now I want all my forevers with you.
Through overthinking marathons, million conversations, innocent gossip, and late-night rants—I fell in love. With your heart, your kindness, your dramatic storytelling, and how you make me feel like I’m home.
Thank God we don’t live in the talktime era—because you’d bankrupt me with all the things you need to tell me daily.
So, Miss Sugarbean…
Will you have unlimited coffee with unlimited talktime for the unlimited rest of my life?Kyunki iss besharam rang ke zamaane mein,
I found a girl jo apna he saaya dekh ke tum jaane jahan sharma gayi…
Abhi toh yehi pehli manzil hai, tum toh abhi se ghabra gayi.Yours,
Your Coffee-Flavored Hooman
☕ A Side Hug, Again
Anushka teared up, laughed through the tears, and this time didn’t wait for a handshake.
She hugged him tight—no awkwardness, no hesitation. Just warmth.
🎶 Are you a ‘besharam rang’ soul or a ‘90s love song’ romantic? Let me know!

I absolutely loved your review of “From Chat Screens to Starbucks Scenes” — it had me smiling through the whole thing! Your vivid descriptions of the characters and the way their personalities jump off the page really sold the bakery-turned-name-your-milkshake duo’s chemistry. I could practically taste the vintage vibes and feel that nostalgic pull you captured so well. The way you broke down the storyline and its pacing made me want to drop everything and binge-read it. Plus, your informal, conversational tone made the review feel like chatting with a friend over coffee.
Hey Romila thank you so much for the most beautiful appreciation. Also this is not a review but me trying to write a short story for the first time! But the fact that you considered this a book is an honour and makes my heart full. Thank you again for your kind words!
Such a lovely heartwarming story, Sameeksha! Absolutely loved reading it. My cheeks are hurting now from the constant smile that I had the entire time reading this story. I could vividly imagine the scenes like watching a movie. Great narration!
I am more of a 60s soul actually!
This story touched me in two ways, firstly – java chip caramel grande just set the mood for something intense and nice .Secondly the desire to just be yourself and be understood , not try hard to be something you are not.You brought this basic human need to connect so beautifully with just the right touch of humor to make it a sweet romance.
Aww this is so romantic. I am that 90s love song romantic…side glances, playing with hair and smiling. Beautiful story.
This is a heartwarming story and being the first, as you pointed out, good going. I for one have badly failed in writing fiction. I can write on any subject under the sun but not a story 🙁 Your Starbucks turned into a happily ever after.
This story melted my heart! In a world rushing past genuine connection, their simple, soulful love feels so refreshing. The coffee shop, the nervous first meeting, the thoughtful proposal—it all felt so real and tender. Love truly thrives in the little things
This was such a heartwarming read! Loved how the story blended modern dating struggles with that old-school charm and warmth. The coffee shop setting, the letter, the little details, everything felt so real and sweet. Definitely made me smile!
Ohh mere dil ke chain… if you get touched by such lyrics, you are old school! And your story has made my belief in this much more stronger 🙂
All I felt when I was reading was, Awwww!! I am a ’90s soul! Yet I crave to read such innocent love stories and meet. In the world of swiping, this is what matters
So sweet! Besharam Rang is my fave son, and I liked Mr Moody beans! Not fond of Starbucks though, absolutely happy that they are going to exit from India. And yes, I think you should try to send your love story to 1-minute love story on ISHQ FM. They have the cutest stories on radio.
*song.. (typo!)
Absolutely charmed by this sweet tale, there’s something delightfully nostalgic about two ‘90s hearts finding each other over coffee in Starbucks. The quirks, the shy glances, and that perfect proposal cup ‘Ayunushka’ all give me warm fuzzies. Perfectly captured the thrill of real connection
Your story is so romantic and real… those little moments of awkwardness and warmth really made me smile. It’s nice to see a love story that’s about finding peace and comfort, not just sparks. The way you mixed nostalgia with today’s dating world felt so genuine.
This review beautifully captures the charm of blending classic romance with modern-day vibes! I can practically hear the chat pings and smell the coffee in Starbucks scenes. Your insights into character development and pacing are spot-on. A perfect guide for anyone craving a cozy love story.
This story is not just lovely but also offeres a warmth to my heart! Reading it is totally a blissful experience for me. I was smiling and equally enjoying every bit of this review post… what a unique way of presenting it. It need command and control to write a perfect book review to keep the readers hooked till the end. You are amazing.
Wow, what a lovely story to read again and again. The way Ayush proposed to Anushka is every girl’s forever dream. 🙂 So good. I am going to pick other recommended books 🙂
That’s a cute and adorable story. I was giggling and smiling throughout reading this story.
Awwww, this was such a romantic read! I loved how he combined both their names and had it written on the coffee cup! Your story is going to keep me smiling through the day!
A tender, relatable tale brewed with warmth and wit—Anushka and Ayush’s story reminds us that sometimes, love begins not with fireworks, but with a shared coffee and honest laughter

Aww this is so sweet. I also had my first date at a coffee shop and this brings back memories
Totally loved this coffee date! I’m an 80s kid so it’s always Rajesh Khanna and Kishore for me. People kiss the wrong frogs but these guys could get away with a side hug to find their soulmate! 🙂
I loved how this review took me from chat screen sparks to cozy Starbucks scenes with its charming, vintage soul vibe. It made me feel warm and nostalgic throughout.
Such a sweet story. Dating in this day and age is tough. You story had an old world charm to it.
This was such a cute story. A story with a vintage soul is so apt. Dating in times of apps is truly a minefield.
