BlogchatterA2Z - Grandparents relationship

How close were you to your grandparents?

R Madhavan once shared a poignant insight on the special bond between grandparents and grandkids. As parents age and children grow into adolescents, there’s often an unspoken shift in affection. Grandparents step in, embracing their grandchildren as the closest blood relationship.

This realization struck me deeply. It’s a bittersweet acknowledgment of how norms evolve with age, yet grandparents continue to shower us with unconditional love and affection.

Summer vacations, festivals, and birthdays evoke memories of my grandmothers, each holding a special place in my heart.

Though my paternal grandmother passed away a year ago, her sweet demeanor, infectious laugh, and radiant smile remain vivid in my mind.

My maternal grandmother, my confidante and mentor, is a beacon of wisdom and joy. At 85, she embodies the spirit of youth, indulging in hobbies like knitting and singing, while eagerly embracing modern ideas. Just yesterday, she marveled at the concept of Uber, intrigued by its convenience and flexibility.

In honor of the cherished bond between grandparents and grandchildren, here are three heartfelt book recommendations:

1. A Birthday Present for Aaji:

This touching narrative follows Jyoti’s quest to find the perfect birthday gift for her hardworking grandmother, Aaji. Through village encounters and heartfelt gestures, Jyoti discovers the true essence of love and gratitude.

2. My Grandmother’s Masterpiece:

3. What Happened to Grandpa:

Prepare to be moved by this poignant story exploring the realities of aging and memory loss. Through tender moments and reflective prose, the book pays tribute to the enduring love of grandparents and the impact they leave on our lives.
