How blogging changed my life

How Blogging changed my life

Hello there, I am Sameeksha, a 21-year-old college student whose life went through a roller coaster journey in the past three years.

2019 started with a rough patch because every decision I made turned into a horror story. But then I read a book named ‘My not so perfect life by Sophie Kinsella,’ the title felt perfect as that what felt like my current scenario then.

As a kid, I wasn’t a reader, just a shy girl who completes her homework on time gets good grades, and listens to parents.
I had no personal choice nor planned ambition. The only thing I used to worry about was how can I earn more money when I was 16. But after my diploma, I realized software or hardware doesn’t make me happy but books.

In 2019 after reading my first ever novel by Sophie Kinsella, I started searching the #sophiekinsella and realized there’s a place called Bookstagram. I created my page not knowing that one thing would change my life forever. The only books I read as a teen or a school kid were Cinderella’s and a few romance books that are easy to find in bookstores.

After slowly understanding how Bookstagram works, I thought, why not use my year break for reading more books? Then I started to take review projects and read all kinds of books. I reviewed around 100 books that year.
And my love for books made me pursue an English Literature degree.

From a diploma in computer engineering to a degree in English literature, blogging made me a better person. That’s what blogging means to me. It’s not just the best part of my life that year but forever.

Blogging turned my life completely. It made me ambitious and confident. From Chetan Bhagat, Preeti Shenoy, Sudeep Nagarkar to Sylvia Plath, Jane Austen, Khaled Hosseini. I have come across hundreds of new authors, genres, and writing styles.

It’s not just about the book but the decision I made and the person I have become today because I read books.

  1. You are amazing Sameeksha and your bookstagram/blogging journey is just the tip of the iceberg to what you can achieve!

  2. It’s so heartwarming to know about your journey. Also, I have heard a lot about Sophie Kinsella but never thought to read but after this post, she is definitely an author now which is in my wishlist. Any specific recommendation through which i can start reading her work?

  3. This is a such beautiful and heart-warming post, mostly because I resonate so much with it when it comes to my journey as a book blogger. And that picture of Pride and Prejudice on Netflix has my heart! Also, My Not So Perfect Life became my anchor at one point too, and I think it is a great stress buster book.
